“A Cross Country Christmas Carol” was created by MUSIKARMA’s MPower Mentors with students from Watervale Primary School, Alice Springs, Imanpa and Aputula. The project involved months of planning and collaboration, culminating in an epic road trip by the MPower Mentor group that saw them traveling by van from Victoria to Uluru, NT.

First stop was Watervale, SA, where they helped students from the primary school write Verse 1 of the song and film for the video. From there, the group travelled up the Stuart Highway (and even wrote a song about it!) to Alice Springs, where they worked with a group of students to write the second verse of the song and film scenes for the video clip.

Then it was on to Aputula community, where the team filmed scenes with the students from Aputula School and enjoyed a Christmas barbecue. Prior to the trip, vocals were recorded and scenes filmed with students from Impana community.

Finally, the team landed in Yulara NT to prepare for Carols by Candlelight at Ayers Rock Resort, where they will present “A Cross Country Christmas Carol”.

The MPower Mentor group is Ashleigh Butcher, Audrey Flannery, Benjamin Lewis, Bianca Kelly, Charles Patterson, John Bennett, Laura Bennett and Sam Heffernan, with support from Debra Ellis and Geoff Thompson.

Contributing lyrics from Adam Thompson, production by Tom Mitchell and video by John Servedio.

This amazing project and journey have been funded by the CommBank Foundation Centenary of Giving Grant through the Euroa and Seymour branches, with special thanks to Glen Loraine.

MPower is created and led by Adam Thompson through MUSIKARMA and MusoMagic.

Evening MusoMagicers!
It's been a massive week in the MM camp with two events running at the same time.
For the 13th year in a row, we celebrated the graduation of the year 6 grade at Golden Square Primary School in Bendigo.
What a fantastic group that gave their 100% commitment and showed us what they could do.
Barry Goode the illustrious principal is bowing out and retiring this year, so we figure its a fitting tribute to him and all the students of 2018.
Well done to the MM team of Laura Bamford, Nick Morrisey, Tom Mitchell and Audrey Flannery for their pro job as always.
Share it up please friends.

Awesome week at Aputula (Finke) community in the NT this week.
The school and community supported the Outback Tracks song and video completely and we shared some special moments together.

Our song this week was celebrating the 60 year anniversay of the Aputula school, a community built on the old Ghan railway path.
Though the Ghan now bypasses this community, the spirit of remote exploration, resilience and sense of community is alive and well here.

A big thank you to The Yankunytjatjara people of Aputula for accepting us onto their land and working together.

Please share with your network friends.
