LESSON 11: Costume Creation

Students will explore costume and its effect on a character. In small groups, students will be assigned ‘character cards’ which designate certain aspects of a character (ie: time period, occasion, personality, place of origin, etc). Working with just white (paper, cardboard, toilet paper, crepe paper, etc) and some basic adhesives, (sticky tape, glue, rope, etc) students will construct a costume for one of their members in the style of their character. We will then have a ‘catwalk’ style presentation, where the other groups have to try and guess the character traits from just the costume choices.
